I. Analysis of China Molybdenum Price Trends in October 2025
According to CTIA GROUP LTD, the price trend of molybdenum products in China for October 2025 was an initial rise followed by a decline, with the end-of-month prices for most products lower than those at the beginning of the month. At the beginning of the month, molybdenum prices were influenced by the significant drop in late September and increased downstream user enthusiasm for purchasing at lower prices, resulting in an oscillatory rise, but the increase was not substantial. In mid-month, due to heightened resistance to high-priced goods among downstream users and strong reluctance among suppliers to sell while upholding prices, product prices fluctuated within a narrow range. Toward the end of the month, the cooling of the international molybdenum market and continued price suppression by steel enterprises on ferromolybdenum procurement led to insufficient supplier confidence in stabilizing prices, with quotes continuously lowered, though the downward momentum slowed by month's end. In October, the total ferromolybdenum tendered by steel enterprises exceeded 10,000 tons.
II. Average Prices of Molybdenum Products in October 2025
In October, the average prices of most molybdenum products in China declined month-on-month but increased year-on-year. The average price of molybdenum concentrate was RMB 4,408 per ton-unit, decreased by 2.41% month-on-month, increased by 17.30% year-on-year; ferromolybdenum RMB 279,667 per ton, decreased by 2.67% month-on-month, increased by 15.16% year-on-year; molybdenum oxide RMB 4,611 per ton-unit, decreased by 2.17% month-on-month, increased by 17.54% year-on-year; sodium molybdate RMB 194,111 per ton, decreased by 3.82% month-on-month, increased by 15.18% year-on-year; ammonium tetramolybdate RMB 267,611 per ton, decreased by 1.50% month-on-month, increased by 16.59% year-on-year; ammonium heptamolybdate RMB 271,944 per ton, decreased by 1.36% month-on-month, increased by 16.45% year-on-year; molybdenum powder RMB 501 per kilogram, decreased by 1.76% month-on-month, increased by 15.17% year-on-year; and molybdenum bars RMB 506 per kilogram, decreased by 1.75% month-on-month, decreased by 8.82% year-on-year.
From January to October, the prices of most molybdenum products in China increased year-on-year. The average price of molybdenum concentrate was RMB 3,870 per ton-unit, increased by 7.56% year-on-year; ferromolybdenum RMB 249,054 per ton, increased by 6.11% year-on-year; molybdenum oxide RMB 3,975 per ton-unit, increased by 7.72% year-on-year; sodium molybdate RMB 175,665 per ton, increased by 5.72% year-on-year; ammonium tetramolybdate RMB 238,704 per ton, increased by 5.61% year-on-year; ammonium heptamolybdate RMB 242,842 per ton, increased by 5.68% year-on-year; molybdenum powder RMB 448 per kilogram, increased by 2.05% year-on-year; and molybdenum bars RMB 474 per kilogram, increased by 1.50% year-on-year.
